THERAPEUTIC ULTRASOUND
Therapeutic ultrasound is commonly used as an adjunct in the management of soft-tissue injuries, including capsular, ligamentous, or musculotendinous inflammation. Ultrasound is high-frequency sound waves applied to the skin via a transducer. The sound waves travel through your tissues to stimulate tissue regeneration, increase blood flow, produce changes in cell metabolism, soften fibrous and scar tissue, and provide pain relief. We have found it to be most helpful in the management of swelling/edema/effusion on a pulsed low-dose setting.
